The True Battle of a Working Woman - Gender Equality
It baffles me that even in
positions of power or when earning an attractive income, individuals may still
not uphold equality within the workplace. Why did my female colleague have to
bear the burden of handling the unexpected situation alone? Why was she
assigned the task of cleaning up the mess, arranging for a fresh meeting room,
and managing the aftermath of a crisis? These questions linger, pointing to a
persistent issue of gender inequality within our society.
The notion that power comes with
an appealing income and societal respect, yet the struggle for equality
persists within office walls, is a contradiction we must address. Why should my
female colleague have to fetch water in a hurry, clean up the mess, and choose
the fragrance for the fresh meeting room? Why should she be responsible for
handling clients, going out of town, working late into the night, or resolving
any serious crisis that may arise? Labeling all these tasks as
"dominated" by a gender showcases the ongoing struggle for gender
equality faced by women in various roles and backgrounds.
Understanding and embracing gender
equality is essential for human progress. The true beginning of gender equality
lies within our homes, where the concept of treating sons and daughters equally
should be nurtured. In the 21st century, where evidence overwhelmingly supports
the idea that any man can empower a woman with equal pay, it is crucial to
eradicate dramatic plays that portray women as inferior.
I strongly believe that humanity
must recognize gender equality before preaching it. Each woman should
introspect within her own family, acknowledging the absence of gender bias, to
truly appreciate and support the cause of gender equality. This self-reflection
is crucial, as I myself strive to treat all the daughters in my family without
any discrimination.
To sum it up, gender equality
means providing equal opportunities and rights to every individual, regardless
of their gender. It's not about achieving victory or obtaining something; it's
about acknowledging the inherent right of every person, irrespective of gender,
to succeed in their endeavors. The journey towards gender equality is not a
dessert to be earned but a fundamental right bestowed upon every woman by
birth.
